About
Webmonit is made by LRob SARL, a web hosting company in Orléans, France. It grew out of running shared hosting servers: fleets where hundreds of sites live together, where "the server is fine" says nothing about the one site that is slow, and where the usual tools either watch the machine or watch the site — never both, and never per hosting account.
What it is
- The server — one binary,
webmonit serve: the scheduler, the checks, the history, the alerting, the web interface, the status pages and the API. Embedded SQLite beside it, nothing else to run. - The agent — one optional binary on each watched machine. It reads locally and pushes: metrics by the second, CPU and memory per system account, disks, RAID, temperatures, the sites the machine serves. The server holds no credential over your hosts and cannot ask them anything — there is no downward channel at all.
- The interface — built for the admin who actually clears the board: every page is meant to be acted from, every verdict shows its evidence, and per-second charts go back as far as your retention allows.
Free software, honest monitoring
The server and the agent are free software under the AGPL-3.0; the source is on git.lrob.net/Webmonit. LRob will sell what it maintains on top — panel integrations and, in time, a hosted option — while the core stays complete and free: checks, history, alerting, status pages, API.
Made in Europe
The company, the servers that serve this site and the data we keep are in France. Webmonit sends nothing anywhere on its own: your monitoring data stays on your server.
