The first machine
In the interface, Add a machine (on the welcome panel, or behind “+ Add” next to Hosts and sites). Give it its name — the machine gets its ping at once, and you land on its page.
For the inside view — metrics by the second, CPU and memory per account, disks, RAID, temperatures — install the agent on the machine. Its page shows the lines ready to paste, with this console's URL filled in once it is set in Settings › Server:
curl -fsSL https://repo.lrob.net/apt/webmonit/webmonit.gpg -o /usr/share/keyrings/webmonit.gpg
echo "deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/webmonit.gpg] https://repo.lrob.net/apt/webmonit stable main" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/webmonit.list
apt update && apt install webmonit-agent
sed -i 's|^#\? *server:.*|server: https://your-console|' /etc/webmonit/agent.yaml
webmonit-agent enrol <the token the “Mint a join token” button shows>
The join token is single-use and expires. Enrolling starts the agent, which then pushes over HTTPS with its own credential; nothing on the server ever connects to the machine. Within seconds of the first report, the machine's checks — load, disk space, uptime, and SMART, RAID or temperatures where the hardware answers — create themselves and fill their dials.
A machine can also carry a pack of checks by typology (a panel host's services, a name server's zones); see its Settings.
